Spring River Regional Airport

While many areas limit their air access to cow pastures and dirt runways, the Spring River area is proud to boast a regulation tarmac. The Spring River Regional Airport allows unparalleled access to our area for residents, visitors and potential industrial developers, ever bolstering economic development.

With the need for a regional airport pushing skyward, the facility has undergone developments and upgrades recently to allow for larger planes and corporate jets. The runway is longer than ever, runway lighting has been expanded and currently airplanes weighting over six tons can land with ease. At the moment, the airport is capable of housing up to twenty planes in fourteen hangers. Currently, plans are in the works for even more additions. Soon, developments will permit even larger planes to utilize the facility.

These improvements were made possible through a 1 million dollar grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.

According to the City of Cherokee Village, the Sharp County Regional Airport was originally built by John A. Cooper for private use after the development of Cherokee Village. The airport was later sold to Tom Loberg, and is now managed by a regional authority comprised of the cities of Cherokee Village, Ash Flat, Highland, and Sharp County.
